What do I do all day?

You may wonder, "What does that lil William do all day?" Well, I am glad you asked!

First things first...I get up in the morning, have some breakfast, get dressed and then I am ready to start my day!! My Mom helps me into my farm chore clothes, including my rubber boots and my yellow rain jacket. Its hard work being a farmer you know.

After I am dressed for my chores I go out and help my Mommy feed the critters. Here I am visiting with my pal, Nesbitt. He is the bottle baby goat that used to live in our porch. We are great friends now and he comes for walks with us. He is learning to pull my John Deer wagon. I am showing him an electric fence insulator. When I am done feeding the animals I help Mommy do fencing. I am a great help and pass her the insulators and the screws while she attaches them to the fence. We are a great team.

The goats aren't the only animals that we care for on our farm. We also have to be sure that our good old friend, Maude, is kept fed and watered. If Maude is healthy she will give us lots of creamy milk. She is sure a great gal!

When our chores are done we come in for some lunch. Mommy sometimes shares a special treat, like chocolate pudidng! She sometimes laughs and says she knows what I will look like in 30 years. I don't really know what that means, do you?

After a hard day of farming I like to have a little "down time". I usually have an afternoon nap, then kick back with my "Mighty Machines" DVD to learn about the intricacies of farm machinery. I love to learn how hay bines and silage wrappers work. Mom doesn't really like me to watch TV but she says I might as well get an education about how to operate farm machines so I can take over when I'm 4 years old.

After my DVD Daddy comes home and its PLAYTIME!! We have supper, a bath and go to bed. Its time to rest up for another day of hard work on the farm!

Love you lots!

The Story of My Lil Peanut

I have a soft little dolly named Peanut, just like me. I love him very much and care for him like a good Daddy. I care for him the same way my Daddy cares for me.

When I am getting ready to go to sleep I lay down gently and pat-pat-pat on Peanut's back. I give him hugs and kiss his mouth. I want him to know he's special and I love him.

I take my sippy cup and I hold it up to Peanut's mouth. I make slurping sounds as Peanut takes a drink. When he's done I gently wipe his mouth with my blanket, and I pat him some more.

Peanut is so lucky to have a good Daddy. I am so lucky to have a good Daddy too.

Here is a picture of my beautiful smile. Mommy says it makes her day. Do you like my new cowboy jammies?

Love you,

Will

Velveteen Nesbit

I have a new friend! His name is Velveteen Nesbit. He is a little goat that was born prematurely on February 26th. He has funny crooked legs and next to no fur so Mommy said he could live in our laundry room til he gets his "wheels". I really love having this new little friend to play with. I take him for adventures by driving him all around the house. I also hold his bottle for him when he's hungry. I love caring for animals and I know how to pat-pat-pat ever so gently.

Love,

Lil Will

Be My Valentine!

For Valentine's Day I got a really great present! No chocolate for me, no siree. I got a brand new pair of shiny blue rubber boots!! I love to clip-clomp-bang-bang-stomp around in them all day long. I think they are pretty snazzy and I am sure you will agree too. I also figured out how to work the zipper on my sleepers. I don't like to keep it done up anymore, so I strut around with my manly chest and belly button a-blazing.

I hope you had a very happy Valentine's Day too!

Love,
Lil Will

Glasses Aren't So Bad

Well, I've finally decided that my glasses aren't all that bad after all. I will now wear them for several hours without pulling them off and throwing them into a pile on the floor. I ask to put them on by pointing to the shelf where they are kept and saying "Guh-guh". I will wear them for a while, and I even know how to push them up when they slide down my nose. I especially like to read with them on. When I am all done I will take them off, fold them up, walk back over to the shelf and ask a grown up to put them up for me. Its really not that difficult you see. These are just the things you have to go through when you are the world's smallest professor.

Here I am pushing my glasses up on my nose so I can see better. These glasses are for seeing things up close. When I need to look at things far away I look over the rim of my glasses, just the way Grammas do. It makes me look wise and serious. I know the ketchup on my elbow doesn't make me look very serious. Ketchup is one of my favourite foods. I love it on everything (elbows included) and I prefer to dip things myself. I have a special technique. Dip, suck the ketchup off, re-dip. Its quite ingenious, really. That way you give the illusion of eating without actually ingesting any of the real food, leaving more room for glorious ketchup.

I'm a Grancher!

My Daddy says we don't ranch...we Granch. I guess that is what ya call it when you spend a lot of time with goats. Here I am getting to know some of my new little buddies. They are sure curious and playful. I love that they are just my size. I can see lots of fun days ahead of me. I am a great helper with chores already and I know I'll be the best little Grancher you ever did see.

Lil Will

My New Hiding Place

One of the fun things about adults is that they are soooo easy to amuse. One day I felt a bit silly so I started to hide in the cupboards. Oh my, they simply roared with laughter as though I'd done something marvelous and clever. Oh, it was so cute to see them laughing and jolly. Such simple creatures, those adults! So I continued to ham it up and jumped in and out of the cupboard for them. I simply adore making those silly grown ups giggle.

My Cool Western Belt

Every cowboy needs a good western belt, preferably one with their name on it. I am lucky to be such a cowboy! My Oompa Loompa has recently taken up leather work. One of his first projects was to make me this belt. It has my name on it and silver horse conchoes too! I feel very manly when I wear it. Mom says she's worried about me wearing Wranglers around girls. I'm not sure what that means.

The Littlest Goat Farmer

Life has been pretty exciting for me this past week. Everyday I get up, have my breakfast, get dressed and play for a bit. Then Mommy asks me to get my coat, and I always squeal with joy and go running to the front closet. After we are bundled up we go outside to do our chores. We have to feed the goats grain, water and hay, and the pot bellied pigs get pelleted piggy chow and water. Then Mommy puts me in the sled and off we go to check the "big" goats. I really love the farming life! Its great fun!

Our new goats are doing great and I don't mind them at all. On Friday Mommy took me to another goat farm where they have brown goats. They scared me and made me cry when they nibbled my boot. I prefer my quiet, white fluffy goats. This goat's name is

After we finish our chores we go back inside for lunch and a nap. I think I could get used to this farming business!

Yesterday we brought home a new little friend. She is a 4 month old Maremma puppy named Luna. She is big, white and fluffy. Mommy says she is a livestock guardian dog and her job is to protect the goats from coyotes and predators. She was born and raised in a goat pen, like many ancestors before her. I think I'd like her to live in our house and play with me, but Mommy says she has a very important job to do. She is named Luna after my very favourite book, "Goodnight, Moon".

Come and visit me soon!

This Farming Business Wears a Guy Out!

Hello everybody!

We've had a pretty busy week!! My Mommy, Daddy and Oompa Loompa have been busy getting things ready for our new GOATS! They've been building fences, shelters and bringing home trailers full of hay, straw and fluffy white goats. Its a very exciting time! I've been pretty lucky so far. I get to stay in the house and play with Gramma and they haven't put me to work yet.

Today my Mom took me out to the goat pen in my sled. She wanted to sit there for a bit and "observe" them, whatever that means. She let me run around in the pen while she was "observing". I had a great time running back and forth in the hay and snow. There were a couple of rough spots and a few times I took a tumble and Mom had to rescue me out of a pile of hay and brush a few goat berries off of me. I sure had a great time and giggled a lot! I liked to look at the goats with their fluffy white coats and long, floppy ears. They were quite curious and we stood nose to nose on either side of the fence. I kept saying "Mooooo" to them, but they just didn't seem to understand what I was saying. Silly goats. I can't wait til they have some babies for me to play with.

After we got back in the house from our hard job of being goat herders I got to play with my toys and my best dog, Rev. He really likes to "share" my toys and sometimes Mom has to remind him that my toys are not snacks for dogs! He's such a character.

At the end of a long day of being a goat herder I sure am tired. I like to nestle in for a good night's sleep. Mom says I look like an angel when I'm asleep. I prefer to think that I look like a really tired, hard working farmer.

Love,
Lil Will

Sask Roughriders and the Oilers

My Daddy LOVES the Oilers and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. I have all sorts of cool outfits, although my Mom calls them "propaganda", whatever that means. Here I am wearing an Oilers outfit my Uncle Mo gave me yesterday.

We've had lots of big changes lately. The first big change is that my Uncle Mo went away to Montreal. I hope he has a great time and lots of big adventures. I miss him already though! I hope that my Mom and Dad will take me to visit him soon.

The other big excitement around here is that my family are becoming goat farmers! My Mommy and Daddy are buying a herd of Savanna goats to raise for meat. My Mommy is really happy because that means she can stay home and play with me all day long instead of going away to work. She is really excited about that. I am just excited that I will get to play with baby goats every spring! It will be a lot of fun.

I hope you can come and visit me at my farm soon. We will be having baby goats and baby piglets in the spring time, not to mention my ponies, donkeys, horses and dogs. Its always a fun adventure around here!

Love,
Lil Will

My New Specs

Hiya everyone!

Well today was a very exciting day in my world. I got my first pair of glasses!

Yes, I know I look very debonaire and wise. Even more than I normally do, wouldn't you say? I am still getting used to wearing these funny feeling specs. I try to pull them off whenever I can. Its not much fun. Mommy says I will get used to it soon enough and won't even notice when I am wearing them.

The other excitement today was that Team Canada beat the US! It was really exciting and I cheered just as loud as my Mommy, Oomp and Gramma. I clapped every time Canada scored. Here I am wearing my Team Canada jammies and playing with my Kris Russell Beanie Baby. Somehow Santa knew to bring me a Team Canada doll with the #10 on the jersey!!

Night night,

My Tom Cruise Impression

If you have ever seen the movie Risky Business then you will recognize my Tom Cruise impression.

~Will~

All I Want for Christmas...

Well, I have my two front teeth, so we're good there!

I had a GREAT Christmas!!

It all started over a month ago when my Mommy put up our Christmas tree and started playing all sorts of cool tunes that we would dance to every day. Then the shopping and present wrapping started. I really enjoyed "helping" to wrap presents. Next came the baking and THAT was the best!! Cookies, fudge, candy and squares galore! What a glorious time!

We celebrated Christmas with my Mommy, Daddy, Gramma Llama, Oompa Loompa, Uncle MoMo, Uncle Lolo and Aunti Jamie on the 23rd. We opened presents at my house, then we had a nap. At 4 pm we went over to Gramma and Oomps and had a fondue (or "fon-don't as my Dad calls it) supper and opened more presents. My Great Grandpa Bill and Connie were there for that. It was a great time and I sure got a lot of nice presents! I sure enjoyed playing in all of the boxes!

The next day Mommy, Daddy and I got up early and loaded up our Vue. It was Christmas Eve. We spent the whole day driving to Eastend, Sask to see my other family members. We arrived at about 7 pm just in time for turkey dinner with Pop Pops, Gramma, Uncle Dev and Auntie Carmen. I was lucky enough to get to open a cool lawnmower from Dev and Carmen and a fun puppy that sings from Gramma and Pop Pops.

The next morning I woke up to find that SANTA had come in the night. He brought me the most spectacular present you've ever seen! It was a John Deere train on a track, just my size!! I was a little unsure of it at first, but boy, once I got the hang of it I was sure proud of myself!

On Christmas day we went to Great Uncle Hal and Great Auntie Lorna's house. All of the Tophams were there. It was a great time and I loved visiting all of my family members and playing with my cousin Tylan's John Deere toys. We had a great meal too! We went home a bit early that evening. By the middle of the night I had a fever and wasn't feeling well. I was pretty under the weather all day on Boxing Day. I just wanted to snuggle and the Tylenol helped keep my fever from getting too high.

The next day I was feeling much better. I was back to my old busy self and getting into all sorts of mischief! We stayed in Eastend til early on the 29th. I really loved the time I spent visiting my family and going on sleigh rides with Gramma. I hope we get back there again soon!

Here is a picture of me with my Great Grandpa Bill Topham.

We got home on the afternoon of Dec 29th. I helped my Gramma and Oomp paint their house on the 30th so my Mommy and Daddy could go on a date! They went to a movie and a grown-up restaurant. I know they missed me the whole time though.

On New Year's Eve my Gramma, Oomp and Uncle Morgan came over for Chinese food and we played games. It was a great way to ring in 2007. I didn't make it til midnight, but then again, neither did my Oomp. We were both snoring away by 10 pm.

On New Year's Day we had a nice roast beef dinner with my Great Grandpa Bill and Great Gramma Connie, Mommy, Daddy, Gramma, Oomp and Uncle Morg. We played some more games and watched movies. I could get used to this! It was so nice to spend time together, especially since my Uncle Morg is moving to Montreal soon!

Today my Mommy and Daddy took me back to the eye specialist in Calgary. This is the same Dr who did eye surgery on me when I was only 6 months old. She checked my eyes over and put special drops in to make the pupils dilate. Mommy said I looked like a doe-eyed cartoon character with my big black eyes. The Dr checked me over with special lenses and said that I can see things really well far away, but had a hard time focusing up close. That would make my eyes cross a bit when I try to look at things up close. The Dr said that I need glasses to help with this. After we left the eye Dr we had a nice lunch at Denny's. I love their kid's meals because they have chicken and grapes! I also had a few of Mommy's fries and I am getting really good and dipping them in ketchup!

After lunch we went to the store where they sell glasses. They had lots and lots of pairs to choose from, even for a little person like me! I tried on a couple of pairs and everyone cheered and told me I sure looked handsome. Yup, I agree!! I sure hammed it up and gave everyone a dapper smile with my glasses on. The nice ladies at the store then had to measure my nose and eyes, and I was getting pretty annoyed with the whole production at this point. I was sure tired of all the running around! Finally we were done and I got to have a nap all the way home.

Tomorrow we have to go back to Calgary to get my new glasses. I will be sure to post a picture of my NEW LOOK so you can all see how handsome I am!

Love,
William
